Mozart Symphony No.31, ‘Paris’
Grieg Piano Concerto
Mendelssohn Symphony No.4, ‘Italian’
Mark Bebbington Piano
Grzegorz Nowak Conductor
The second in a series of two concerts with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra featuring some of the most celebrated works in the Classical and Romantic repertoire.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra takes a symphonic tour of continental Europe, taking in cosmopolitan Paris and the delights of Italy, via a Scandinavian sojourn.
With the youthful exuberance, tenderness and joy of three composers writing during their twenties, the music takes inspiration from the land both at home (Grieg drawing on beloved Norwegian folk melody) and abroad (Mozart seeking patronage in cosmopolitan Paris; Mendelssohn high on Italian sunshine, landscape and art).
Outstanding British pianist Mark Bebbington is the soloist in Grieg’s evergreen Piano Concerto, under the baton of Polish conductor, Grzegorz Nowak.
