At the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, we believe that everyone deserves to benefit from the life-enhancing power of great music. That’s why we are dedicated to finding imaginative ways to engage those who might not otherwise have access to a rich musical life. Through RPO Resound, we take music beyond the concert hall and out into communities. These programmes allow us to witness first-hand the profound impact music has on individuals and groups. Across our diverse range of projects and partnerships, we focus on three key areas where music makes a difference:
Health and wellbeing |
Music makes us happier, healthier people. From helping people to improve their physical and mental health through experiencing music, to using music as a tool for rehabilitation and recovery, our projects and events use music in a powerful way to improve people’s lives. |
Inclusion and social cohesion |
Music brings people together and creates a sense of connection. It provides a common language and bridges differences, uniting us and reflecting the very best of our collective self. We engage with individuals who need our help to access their musicality, and bring a diversity of people into the same space to share and enjoy music together. |

Aspiration and achievement for all |
Musical skills enable personal growth, promote academic and lifelong achievement, and raise aspirations. RPO Resound is working to enable more people to develop musical skills through strategic and well-placed partnerships, creating targeted interventions and improving progression routes for those who need them the most. |
