VE Day 80: The Party will celebrate a pivotal day in our modern history through an evening of music-led storytelling. Exactly 80 years on, it is the final major Second World War anniversary for the country to mark alongside those who lived through it; The Greatest Generation.
8 May 1945 was a day of celebration with the streets brimming with people singing and dancing; bittersweet for many who had lost loved ones in the war or were waiting for their safe return.
The RAF Squadronaires, part of The Central Band of the Royal Air Force, will take the audience back in time with iconic 1940s favourites, while the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will perform the nation’s best-loved classical anthems, both joined by guest vocalists.*
The event will feature untold personal accounts of those who were there 80 years ago to the day, as well as the key moments that led to the end of the Second World War, with performances and narration by stars from stage and screen.
This event is produced by The Makers Of, co-producers of major anniversary events including ‘D-Day 80: Remembering the Normandy Landings’ and ‘The Dambusters with Dan Snow’
