The Royal Philharmonic warmly welcomes its Artist-in-Residence for 2022: violinist Fumiaki Miura. Get to know the accomplished star who performs with the Orchestra at our Resident London home Cadogan and Hull's historic City Hall in 2022.
“To play with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is such a privilege for me, they are the first English orchestra that I ever played with. I’m so happy to be back, finally, to play wonderful music with the RPO musicians.”
Fumiaki Miura
Born in Tokyo, Fumiaki began his musical education with Tsugio Tokunaga before moving to Vienna to carry on his studies with Pavel Vernikov and Julian Rachlin. In 2009 he was awarded First Prize at the Joseph Joachim Hannover International Violin Competition, being the youngest winner ever.
Fumiaki has performed with leading international orchestras and conductors, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, NHK Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Royal Scottish National, Wiener Kammerorchester, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Mariinsky Theater, Tchaikovsky Symphony, Orchestre Nationale du Capitole de Toulouse and Gothenburg Symphony orchestras, amongst many others. He plays a 1704 Stradivarius named ‘ex Viotti’, kindly loaned by the Munetsugu Foundation.
