'The country’s most revered concert venue is leading the way to a future of classical music that features the crescendos of computer games and the bass of Bollywood, as well as the majesty of Mahler.

The Royal Albert Hall has enlisted its first associate orchestra as it begins an expansion of its musical offerings. The Royal Philharmonic will help the venue to add up to 70 orchestral music productions each year, beyond the annual BBC Proms.

They have previously collaborated on successful events showcasing computer game soundtracks as well as screenings of classic Bollywood films with symphonic accompaniment.'

“It is a whole new canvas for us both to inspire different generations,” James Williams, the managing director of the RPO, said. “We want to create something larger and more ambitious. This is combining two brands that speak of modernity but also of heritage.”
