Co-Principal Cello

Jonathan Ayling began his career with London Philharmonic Orchestra and regularly performed with the LPO Soloists at Wigmore Hall. He joined the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2013 and, more recently, he has performed as part of the RPO’s Prelude and Spotlight chamber concerts at Cadogan Hall.

A member of the Tier3 piano trio and Duo Hellier, Jonathan has also performed with the English Chamber Orchestra Ensemble and given concerts at the Aldeburgh Festival and Carnegie Hall, New York. Sought after as a guest Principal Cello, Jonathan has played with many of the UK’s leading orchestras and opera houses and further afield with orchestras in Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand.

He plays two cellos, a Joseph Panormo and a Helen Michetschläger, and is a regular recitalist, concerto soloist and teacher.
